3 Winter Creative Adventures You Will Love

With snow beginning to fall in Park City and daylight hours diminishing, now is the perfect time to embrace creativity for the winter season ahead. Since opening our first Utah paint & sip studio in 2012, we have continued to see the positive results that creative adventure has on individuals, families and teams. Not only do creative adventures lower stress levels, but the experience also brings us all closer together.

So, what do we mean when we say “creative adventure”?

At its core, this means any activity that is new to you and gets the brain moving towards creative thinking. Creative thinking puts us in a unique state of focus as we are required to be present and ignore the boundaries that we may be accustomed to. The best part of it all… this can mean something different for everyone and there are endless ways to embark on your very own creative adventure!

If this all sounds new to you, allow us to point you in the right direction with 3 of our favorite winter creative adventures:

DIY Shot Skis or Ski Signs

As avid skiers, we love rolling up our sleeves and creating ski-inspired art. Our Shot Ski/Ski Sign classes involve painting and stenciling art onto wooden ski signs or wooden skis with holes to place small shot glasses (for celebrating a job well done, of course!). While these activities are great with family/friends in our class environment, you can easily take on the project in your own home with a few basic tools!

Holiday Ornament Painting

The holiday season is the perfect time to spread creative joy! We love to cut tree branches into small (3”-6” diameter) cross sections to make a clean surface for painting. Get inspired and design these however you’d like to. We have experimented with mountain scenes, snowflakes, Santas & more. These can then be drilled through and tied up with twine to create amazing holiday ornaments. You can make this activity a year-round activity by creating wooden coasters instead of holiday ornaments.

Canvas Painting

Canvas painting is our original creative adventure. Grab some paint, brushes, and canvas and you are on your way to bringing any scene or idea to life. If you haven’t painted for a while (or ever), we sell Paint From Home Kits and offer free virtual classes to get you started. If you are a local Utahn, you can also join us for one of our in-person classes where a local artist takes us through the entire creative journey. Canvas painting is a great place to start as your skills here will translate over to so many other mediums.
